Loblolly Grove, 2025
Grambling State University, Louisiana
90’ x 22’ x 6’
Aluminum Composite Panels over aluminum subframe on structural steel
Historical images from the GSU archives were identified and reinterpreted through the lens of modern technology. The images are nested between the vertical striations which are evocative of the loblolly pine groves, pervasive in the regional landscape. The artwork transcends individual glorification, instead aiming to encapsulate the collective history and spirit of Grambling State University. Employing CNC-routed panels in a dot-screen pattern, a technique reminiscent of vintage printing methods, the piece plays with perception as one views the work from various vantage points on campus. Image clarity dynamically shifts with viewing angle and distance, creating mesmerizing optical effects that evolve with the changing light throughout the day and seasons. The imagery intentionally emerges from the negative space created by the perforations, resulting in a vast, dynamic canvas that invites contemplation and discovery.

Petrichor, 2023, Childrens Park San Diego California
25’ X 16’ X 25’, Steel and Concrete
Inspired by the original design of the park of the late 80s with its reference to local geography. An abstract cloud form was designed to float above the ground plane as an interactive public art sculpture that changes perception and shape as one moves around the piece. The subtle shifts in light shape shade and shadow are all intended to allow visitors to experience the piece in multiple ways.
